You eventually come to an active area on a stone platform whose only access is those bridges. There, in a forge, a young deity introduces himself as Old Heff’s apprentice smith. He offers to teach you a few things. When he’s shown you all he can, he offers you this test:
“Try to construct a cube, any size, I provide the materials. Make it as perfect as your skill allows. When you are done, position the cube and yourself so you can see as many sides as possible, to test for geometric precision.”
What do you do?

"Well, making the cube out of glass would certainly enable me to see all the sides. Or...."

I begin working on a very large cube made of black clay. When I finish, I sit inside the cube in the corner, facing so that I can see all the sides.

"Well done, Ptah. You have mastered everything I can teach you. Take this diamond egg!"

[Ptah]

"Thank you for your lessons, and for the egg."

The Gremlin consumes grease, oil, and other noxious substances. When it has consumed enough, its grublike lower body swells and splits into new gremlins. These new gremlins adapt their upper body form to fit the level of technology around them, growing keratin tools and the like. They know how to disrupt any form of technology, from a greased longbow string to a quantum computer.
