The diamond splinters, then explodes violently. You are ready with warm light, soft bedding, and a field guide. You carefully untangle the frosted thread connected to the newborn creature.

The egg has hatched into a Megalodon!

Megalodon
Image
Attack: High, physical
Defense: Moderate, physical
Speed and Finesse: Moderate
Intelligence: Bestial
Size: Elephantine
Special: Regeneration
The Megalodon is a massive armored shark. It has rows of teeth reaching all the way to its digestive system, and it has no qualms about swallowing people or, for that matter, small boats. Any teeth that are knocked out are quickly replaced, and the same is true for its armored flesh. It can smell blood before it is spilled, and will sometimes appear where a battle by sea is about to be fought.

Puzzle #1:

Thrash rolls 11.
Nor rolls 6.
AIiCE rolls 8.

Thrash shoves everything else aside and finally corners the diamond egg, wrapped in frosted threads. He may hatch it at any time.

Puzzle resets.

Nor tries again for rift egg, this time opening wormhole next to it and gravity shoving it through and into Nor's hand.

I have lost interest in this puzzle. I climb up into the air to see if I can spot another interesting location to explore.

You see a stream of glossy beetles zooming into a little cove and under the water. Following their line, you locate a tangled cove.

I'll "help" Nor corner the egg. Maybe I'll even give it to him to hatch, since the poor reptile doesn't have one yet.

I'll also hatch open my egg, incubating it carefully in a bed of lukewarm roiling lava.
