Puzzling and sifting through the dust of ages like one gazing thoughtfully at layered seams of sedimentary rock, I will make it one of my duties to compile the history of the Diamond Pantheon itself. Eventually I'd like to make a compilation of the Mountain, the Icy Wastes, and the Pinnacle Facet itself. I am nearly done with the first of these.

In this thread, you can come to view a short summary of all that happens here. It will be a great resource for those just joining us.

The Pinnacle Facet

  • The Steep Norns and the Diamond Master created the Diamond.
  • First, they created the Frozen Ocean (shaped like a maelstrom frozen in time, made of diamond) and the Frosted Arboretum, a beautiful garden. These are founded on adamas, which is the diamond-like substance the entire Universe is composed of.
  • Eitr, the gas of creation, based on adamas, filtered up through the cracks. This gas allowed quick growth of life and imagination. It attracts the strongest from every plane of existence!
  • The Eitr causes crevice-portals. Steepest Durin the Undying, Brunhildr the Valkyrie, Bregelmir the Jotun, and Rastlyn enter from the dying Icy Wastes.
  • Mad Arcane Zeus stumbles through, apparently driven bloody and insensible by the near-destruction or destruction of his home world on the Plane of the Mountain. Arcane Elijah the Prophet of the Machine, Iblis the djinni-demon, Grey Aides, the enigmatic Xyr, and Grey Helios come through as well.
  • Great Thrash, the living planet, glimpsed the light of the Diamond Pantheon when Yerkan of Elish tore a wormhole through to it. Both arrive. The Planet Thrash goes to sleep, and Thrash takes on the form of a clay giant. Yerkan begins pioneering new worlds, including his new home of Rivenrock.
  • Morbus Sano, the disease-curer and disease-causer, enters, and finds his worldview shaken. Volatilus, god of the hunting beasts, leads the way for a pack of carnivores.
  • A glitch in the fabric of Rivenrock gave birth to Kirma Simin. Ptah, and AIiCE the sentient computer program, are also invited from Yerkan’s travels.
  • Led by Steepest Durin’s initiative, many of the gods form together into a great Council in the image of the one in the Plane of the Mountain. The Council sets up a home in a frozen wave. Anyone who wishes to join the Council may do so from their User Control Panel > Usergroups > Nonmemberships.
  • Volatilus leads the Council in a ritual of loyalty to the Council as a whole and creates a brand. Durin builds a mighty filtration portal to the home of the Council.
  • Mad Arcane Zeus, burning with fever, brings six warrior deities and a thousand proven men to serve the Council.
  • Yerkan discovers a spawn of Earnaness, a mighty dragon. The dragon is driven off, its breath captured within Volatilus’ spearhead. The dragon reveals that his job is to place a transmitter, which apparently “calls the herald(s).”
  • Trilobites are discovered scuttling about. They are shown to obscure even the mighty divinations of the gods when they are present.
  • A “tawny trickster” – part monkey, part cat, part acorn, part beetle? – is discovered in the garden. It mostly causes minor mischief, but proves itself capable of great feats of strength and evil. Finally captured by the intense efforts of Yerkan, Thrash, Durin, and Volatilus, the Trickster promises to help if a riddle can be answered.
  • A mountain bursts its top, clearing away mists that had hidden the fiery Lava Molt land.
  • Thrash and Yerkan discover a shifting castle, and moves many of the Councils warriors inside.
  • Yerkan findscarnivorous plants, adapted by wires into a more dangerous form. It bears a transmitter similar to that left by the dragon.
  • Thrash finds a shrine to the Steep Norns, who promise the finder to answer a single question. Within the shrine is the Photocambic Tree, with crystal limbs of light and sound.
  • Durin discovers a race of mute, wise, learned, book-worshiping giants, living in the gardens.
  • The next danger is the Crystal Sslugs. They are three mindless creatures made of crystal particles, each of which is one tiny piece of programming. They are Mix, the Sslug of Apathy; Amatin, the Sslug of Frost, and Osis, the Sslug of Temptation.
  • The blind Sslugs cannot be touched, nor can their slime, without provoking death's onset. They have cybernetic eye artifacts implanted onto them, which can display images, communicate with someone? and focus starlight into lasers or a withering gaze.
  • Mix invades the Diamond Watchtower where the Diamond Master lives, paying tons of DM Favor to make horrid things happen.
  • Amatin rains down blasts of different energies. It has wings now…
  • Osis just burns a trail into the most beautiful parts of the garden. It is maybe a message: A will 2 domin8, power, something?
    Spoiler: show
When turned upside down, the message reads "Ravana is watching."
  • A weird flying citadel support the Sslugs, armed with ranged weapons. Yerkan sneaks into the place and discovers a lord cloaked in trilobite magic.
  • The Sslug’s makeup is fully documented by the scientist gods. The Sslugs are slightly prescient, as are the trilobites. This muddies the sight of the gods.
  • The Sslugs are basically immune to heat, force, poison, distraction, and who knows what else.
  • Durin and Yerkan corrupt Amatin’s programming, making it more random. Unfortunately, it looks like something can bring focus back. The three Sslugs have identical programming except for one secret instruction buried in each.
  • They try to corrupt Mix’s programming, but it just uses DM Favor to break the Field Projector.
  • The Sslugs come to focus against something strong – the palaces of Durin. With much Favor and magic, and the help of the mute giants, one Sslug is imprisoned within his walls (Osis).
  • With a concerted effort, the gods expend the Favor banks of the Sslugs.
  • In the Hamlet of Heroes, a rift opens up, spitting forth a Steep Wolf pup, a tiny Sslug, and a circular Shadow. These creatures are eventually disseminated to other parts of the Gardens.
  • The Shadow appears to eat light. The Steep Wolf pup desires only to hunt. The tiny Sslug gets used as a guinea pig.
  • The Abrominae stirs within the Diamond of Existence, causing earthquakes.
  • Entire Facets burst out of alignment with the Diamond in a cataclysmic event. The Norns and the Lady agree that it must be sewn together again with frosted thread from their own looms. They hide these threads within diamond eggs within the Labyrinth that the cataclysm creates.

Meanwhile, the gods play Abyss, Guess the Griblit, and visit each other in their homes. They choose which mortals to favor, peering into the Facets of rulers other than themselves, interfering in dreams and rewarding that which is important to them. They struggle for Favor and the power it can buy. They seek to strengthen the Pinnacle Tapestry, while those whom the Universe can agree to oppose seek to weaken it. Evil and good are not the dividing forces here, but imagination against entropy, malicious and noble united against mindless destruction.

We have sent you 1 Norn Favor for this, as it is effectively similar to the Precedent.
