The Heralds

  1. Yerkan warns the Garden that dark times are coming, and creates the Hailstone MIrror, a divination artifact.
  2. The Council discusses the three creatures which appeared in the Hamlet of Heroes - the Steep Wolf pup, the small shadow, and the tiny Crystal Sslug, as well as the Rift which they came through.

I travel throughout the lands, whispering vague omens to the citizens of this Facet, telling them that dark times are coming and listening to their input. I do not panic them, but I make sure that the peoples' minds have just enough worry to make them think and ponder, to cluster together and learn how to fight. Such people are minor players compared to the Steep Heralds, but their thoughts, ideas, and perspectives will be especially useful. I gather their Knowledge in exchange for mine.

Back in the Council's Wave, I begin the construction of a new item: a spherical mirror carved out of the icy waves of the frozen ocean. More Heralds are coming, and it is in our best interest to know as much as we can about them. The sslugs have dealt much more damage than the spawn of Earnaness, and the coming deities may do much worse. A place my work in progress upon a small pedestal with a red cloth in a dark corner, and surround it with candles, marking the solemnity and direness of the situation.

Message me details about this artifact when you have completed it (or post it publicly if you wish).

"This is the Hailstone Mirror, an artifact of enigma. It conflates the mortal concept of reflection to better suit our divine needs by showing more than just the simple photonic reflection of an item presented to it, but greater details regarding it. The reflection may reflect the history of the item, its makeup, or locations of other aspects thereof. I leave it here for all members of the council to use."

We know that there is, at least, the Lord of the Citadel. But one of our greatest weaknesses against these sslugs has been a complete inability to understand them, for we cannot speak to them or ascertain their goals. Something more powerful than they may be less stressful on us when we can speak and learn of motives. Perhaps, to capture the remaining sslugs, we should consider another encounter with the Lord himself.

We've got some potential enemies moving in the Hamlet of Heroes, but also some potential allies. A Steep Wolf from the Icy Wastes that somehow survived and escaped, a newly-created crystal Sslug the size of a human head, with none of the mechanical accessories the Sslugs of the Test bear, and a third, unidentified creature that uses trilobites to obscure itself. All I've been able to see is a basically round shape. These all emerged from the bubble in the adamas, which contained living energies - possibly these creatures, given that one was electronic and one "traditional," which matches the wolf and sslugs.

We have little additional information; I am currently investigating with the Mirror and Estoc. My hope is that one or more of these will either act as an ally to us, or else be converted to an ally. If this proves difficult, their small size may mean that we can get rid of them fairly easily.

The Steep Wolf has stated that it will agree to live among us so long as we mean it no harm.

I think we should create a message from the entire council that affirms our intention of peace as a council and welcomes the ancient being among us, so long as it remains equally peaceful towards us.

Good idea. We as a Council should have nothing to fear, and I am fine with making that clear in our message of peace as well.

Although I disagree that this is a Council only of peace.
