A Brief History of the Exemplar Pantheon

A straight, smooth spire heading high into the starry atmosphere. Its walls are impossible to climb and invulnerable. There is only one entrance: the Gothic front door of adamant.

Exemplar Pantheon

The Alpha is born. From Eitr Exposure and hard work, he has earned Campaign tier, a 3rd level Sky domain, and liquid Favor of DM 10 and Norn 14.

The Alpha is worshipped by about 2 out of every 3 sentient beings on his 300mil campaign world. He DMs a world about three times per month. He only just registered on the DP. He plans to start a wiki.

His choices are:
-Converting Nornfavor to DMFavor for a max of 20.5 DMFavor
-Converting DMfavor into Nornfavor for a max of 19 NornFavor
-Sponsor a hero deity for 5 Nornfavor
-Sponsor either four Culet heroes for 18 norn, or 1 Culet campaign for 10, or some combination of no more than 1 campaign god and 2 heroes.
-Set up a temporary refractive facet where he sets up some rules ahead of time
-Purchase an artifact
-Ask the DM to arbitrate a game
-Enforce a contract via the DM
-Cause some significant change in the world, like setting up a rainbow bridge
-Fill up a mechanics slots in battle
-Do some one thing secretly
-Register an extra campaign world.
-Buy up to two brand new level 1 domains (his cap - one first level domain per Tier) and a level 2 domain
-Buy up to two brand new level 2 domains

His income sources:
-If he completes his Bio page entirely, he will gain 6 DM Favor.
-After a week, he will make 2 heartbeat + 4 worshipper + 4 sessionplay = 5/Tier = 10 DM Favor.
-If he is very very active he might hope to make another 4 DM Favor and 2 Norn Favor with roleplay/unique forum posts.
-If a fully complete wiki went live this week, he might make as much as 10 DMFavor. 5 is more realistic.
-If he is active in all the games, as the sole player he will win all three for 12 DM Favor and 6 Norn Favor.
-Similarly, he can hope to complete one quest this week for 8 DM Favor and 4 Norn Favor.
+This is a max income of 50 DMFavor and 12 NornFavor in one week. A more common income would be about 28 DMFavor and 6 NornFavor, if he were not the sole god and not 100% participating.

All told, in two weeks he could have held as much as 70 DM Favor and 32 NornFavor.
Week 2 he could, if he bought nothing on week 1:
-A major diamond reshape
-Fill a major mechanics slot
-Buy the 4th extant domain level
-Buy combinations of lower level domains, up to 2 first levels or 4 2nd levels or 2 3rd levels
-Sponsor a few campaign gods or an entire pantheon of hero deities or some combination of campaign gods and hero deities
-A handful of Culet hero deities, or three culet campaign gods

Bear in mind that these maximums are unrealistic. These maxes imply that he liquidates all his Favor into one category, and that he is the only one playing.

Let us go back to day 1, where Alpha had DM 9 and NN 14. It's sort of boring up in the clouds by himself, so his first step is to convert 8 DM Favor into 4 more Norn Favor, enough to sponsor another true campaign god. He thinks of his friend and talks to the Norns.
The Norns start the request flowing.

He can do nothing with his 1 DM Favor.

Soon enough, his friend Beta ascends to the Diamond as a Ocean-2. The Alpha immediately is given 0.5 Beta Favor by the Norns. Beta and The Alpha compete in the games; Beta wins 2 and The Alpha wins one. They have an agreement to stay as allies, so together they embark on a quest to slay Uno, the colossal fire-breathing hellhound of the underworld, who has been aggressive lately, and steal his magical glass eye. Beta puts her name on the attack after some maneuvering and luring the hellhound into the edge of the golden disc on which the Exemplar Pantheon resides. They describe the battle to the DM and try to hint at what powers and tactics they are using. The DM decides the attack ultimately looks like this:

+Beta vs Uno+
Tier: Campaign vs Campaign
Domain: Ocean 2 vs Fire 3
Weakness: None vs Bestial Nature
Equipment: None vs None
Circumstance: Home Field Advantage vs On the Precipice
Spell: Tidal Wave vs None
Allies: The Alpha vs None
Insight: The Bigger They Are vs None

Beta summons a tidal wave from the fountain at the heart of the Golden Disc and drives the hellhound off the edge. Beta and The Alpha have every advantage: they are as powerful as the hellhound, they use its weight against it, they outnumber it, they are defending their homes, and magic and the elements are in their favor. Since Beta is the official combatant, she reaches down and plucks the furious glass eye from the hellhound.

Beta decides to go for the kill: it's a long fall! The DM asks for rolls, and the Lady rolls up an 18 for Beta and an 11 for Uno (out of 20 max). So Uno has been saved somehow in his fall: it is hard to kill a god. However, his ruin comes to him during that fall, and he's driven away and of course wounded by the loss of his eye.

The two questers contributed equally and receive 8 DM Favor and 4 Norn Favor apiece for this quest. It took them all week, so it is Hrairday, and they both receive their weekly income.

The Alpha has about 37 DM Favor and 4 NornFavor now, as it has been a very profitable week (the first full week is typically the most profitable.) Beta has close to 30 DM Favor and 8 NornFavor.

Uno has secretly made a dangerous quest to the Eitr Pit and been reborn. With his Eitr Exposure, he sponsors a hero deity named Gamma-Man, who has been expected to join the Pantheon for some time now as an evil player. Gamma-Man has been saving up all week under the tremendous influence of Eitr and is already leveled up to Campaign God. His Poison domain is already level 4: Gamma-Man has no desire for allies and simply converted all his Norn Favor into DM Favor and leveled up his stats and purchased a gravity gun from the DM.

Gamma-Man and Uno renew their attack as an ambush next week just 2 days before Hrairday. It is not because of how much realtime has passed but rather because of the wording of Gamma-Man that this battle is assumed to be soon after the earlier one. Though Uno is damaged, Gamma-Man is fresh and empowered to spark a negative chemical reaction, and at first it looks like the battle will go badly.

+Gamma-Man vs The Alpha+
Tier: Campaign vs Campaign
Domain: Poison 4 vs Sky 3
Weakness: None vs None
Equipment: Gravity Gun vs None
Circumstance: Home Field Advantage vs Battle Weary
Spell: Poison Gas vs None
Allies: Uno the Hellhound vs Beta
Insight: Chemical Knowledge vs None

Gamma-Man's domain is bigger and more applicable as he plans to poison the air and water of the other two gods. His Gravity Gun is hurting The Alpha's skyborn freedom, he's fresh, and casting nasty spells. The only advantage for The Alpha's team is that it looks like Beta is a better ally than the weakened fire hound.

But Hrairday has not yet come, and Alpha is determined to turn things around. He spends 20 of his 37 DM Favor on a powerful divine artifact: a soporific arrow that stuns anyone it hits before reappearing in his quiver. Then he spends another 20 (borrowing 3 from Beta) to fill in the Insight block to his advantage, gaining some knowledge of his opponent. Furthermore, Beta supplies The Alpha with a buff against the poison: the Aspect of the Pufferfish.

+Gamma-Man vs The Alpha+
Tier: Campaign vs Campaign
Domain: Poison 4 vs Sky 3
Weakness: None vs None
Equipment: Gravity Gun vs Soporific Arrow
Circumstance: Home Field Advantage vs Battle Weary
Spell: Poison Gas vs Aspect of the Pufferfish
Allies: Uno the Hellhound vs Beta
Insight: Chemical Knowledge vs DM-Filled Insight

Now they are equal in almost every respect. Gamma-Man does have a slightly higher domain, and that's significant, and the two Golden Disc gods are tired, but Beta is unquestionably a better ally. Gamma-Man's advantage is no longer even close to pronounced; he is only winning by one slot and needs to have a max of one disadvantageous slot to turn this battle into a victory. It's a stalemate, so Gamma-Man and Uno make a tactical retreat. Everyone is unharmed.

To prevent that advantage from remaining, Beta makes a deal with The Alpha. She coyly proposes marriage, and as a dowry will trade 22 of her DM Favor for The Alpha's 8 Norn, an astounding deal for The Alpha. He accepts and is able to elevate his sky domain to 4 and pick up a 2nd level Health domain. Meanwhile, with all the Norn Favor in Beta's hands, she starts dreaming of what their children might be like. She converts her 8 remaining DM Favor into 4 Norn.

They give birth do a bouncing baby girl: Delta, the Crocodile Goddess, who spawns with 6 DMFavor and 4 NornFavor, spends it on domains, etc. Her parents split the 0.5 Delta Favor from the Norns. Delta costed the proud couple 20 Norn Favor, leaving Beta with no Favor.

Hrairday arrives. This week is not quite so dramatic for them, and they each end up making only 11 DM Favor this week.
