Good news! I've found a karmic symbol! I quickly run over to the green gas and put my symbol into it. Then I put each symbol into the gold and silver pans of the scale. I wait hopefully for something interesting to happen.

The scale pans pump furiously, the mechanism bringing up the bloodstained tome from below.

I read the bloodstained tome.

It seems to be the diary of a man called Bluejacket.

“I have found that the Kraken respects nothing but the reach of steel; steel and the symbol of his own wrath.” The rest of the pages are missing or unreadable.

hmm, two sets of two. I grab one of the karmic symbols off of the pan, and put it in the green gas until I have a total of 4 symbols. I put two on each pan.

Nothing happens.

In fact, the pans are not big enough to receive two symbols apiece.

I shall search. That note about the Kraken may be relevant to the sword, and to the salty brine covering everything.
