Posted: Tue Apr 23, 2013 11:12 pmYou wander through the new layer of the Abyss. Maddening odors deprive you of your wits. Noxious gases cause you to stumble into walls or to go in aimless circles. Here, all the walls are shaped into series of humanoid heads, each as large as a man, which appear to be screaming in agony as though tortured. The doorways are similar…and there are a lot of them. The number of passages seems infinite, and it is difficult to think within your wool-clouded minds.
A pockmarked rat scurries into a cloud of green gas and comes out limping on too many legs.
You attempt to center your explorations around a particularly large skull-shaped node with a door on each of four sides. Each seems to lead to the same empty chamber nearby. The statue’s deep set eyes torture your hallucinating souls. It holds a brine-encrusted sword.
After days of stumbling, you thankfully locate the Descent Pore Array. Unfortunately, it is inactive. A thin film of salty water plays over its surface.
Stepping through another eerie mouth into the cavern beyond, you find a room with a glass floor. Below the glass you see a library. Two tomes stand out: a gilt tomeand a bloodstained tome. In the center of the room is a large scale with a gold pan and a silver pan hanging from a crossbar, which in turn is mounted on a vertical pole. On the pole the words “Two sets of Two, one of Two: Two represent the library below. Two represent this balance above,” are engraved.
