Your dark mirror may influence the bats, who like the dark. Or it may influence the light entering the crystal somehow. The space in the vestibule seems to be meant for writing of some sort, as that's what the rest of the paper is used for. Unless something's meant to hang there and that's why the demon's never wrote anything there.

I will try each...in succession.

I will place the...dark...mirror among the existing bats, though there is not a place to do so...

I...will then place it in the grapple to influence the crystal. Finally, I will replace my symbol on the paper walls.

Placing the dark mirror on the grapple causes the light to bend around the crystal, as the dark mirror tries to absorb the beam.

The Descent Pore Array flutters open, but it does not have enough juice to open wide enough for you dungeoneers.

This is a trick I learned in the Dwarven Mines of Kad'k: I'll crack open my blood vial and spread a bit of the blood on the empty space. Here's to hoping this'll make the bats swarm a bit more and power our machine.

I do have an indigo gem; but the utility of said object is highly questionable.

I have plenty of extra rotsoil symbols and animus symbols. I'll feed a rotsoil symbol to the chameleon and search.
