Aye - I begin th' branding process. Hold still! (Don' worry, you will - these chains once held th' Steepest of Steep Wolves).

When I get ta Volatilus, I bow and present him with his own spear. I've been workin' on it. Th' cracklin' energies of th' dragon have been preserved, their electromagnetic field stabilized via a permanent gyroscopic toroid of rare earth which orbits th' point. This should hold two powers - it'll never miss anythin' made of metal, and it'll deliver th' effect of th' dragonbreath!

Volatilus accepts the spear with a gracious nod, I will put it to the best of use. Thank you for your efforts brother. I will carefully place the spear against the bone alter pivot and kneel offering the back of my neck bare. Stay your chains, for I will not need them! The chanting howls in the forest suddenly cease as Volatilus' eyes go distant awaiting the iron.

Image The symbol is complete! Lest another dares top it's splendor! If not, this shall mark the back of Volatilus' neck with a marvelous permanent brand.

At what strength are the current adventurers on your world, Volatilus?

They are pithy, struggling pups. But I see a great purpose intertwined in their distant journey ahead. They have been set with tasks by the stronger to keep their underground civilizations whole, and they have yet to fail at their tasks. I say anything that opposes Gaeia or her unsavory cult of "Leaf followers" will show my respect even if this world has to have a side of civility to take her down a peg... or six...

It is funny that I, too, deal battle with a "Mother Gaia". My adventurers have, to save their own hides, nominally agreed to attempt to sponsor her on the off chance that they ascend to godhood...

We'll see how that goes.

Tell me more about your Gaiea, when next you enter this glade.

I'm interested to see how much of an echo there is.

I will...allow...myself to be branded here, on my forearm.

The pain...is nothing. The acceptance...is significant.

The young Steep Wolf slinks into the shadow of @Volatilus ' domain. Neutral frost gleams on his coat and disguises his scent.

Volatilus finds a few corpses in the far reaches of his glade - the slain bodies of some of his guard creatures. Many of the hunting plants ignore the wolf altogether.
